Our Work

Florida Nutrition Education

Eat Healthy. Shop Smart. Be Well.

With a mission to increase access to healthy, nutritious food, Feeding Florida finds it critical for our food bank network to also educate families and individuals so they can make healthy food choices and best use of their food budgets.

Our nutrition program, Florida Nutrition Education, works throughout our food bank network to teach individuals, seniors, and families how to stretch their food budgets, lead physically active lifestyles, and shop for and cook healthy meals.

Our dedicated Florida Nutrition Ed website is where you can:

  • Find the classes offered in your county or connect with your local Florida Nutrition Ed provider.
  • Try our tasty recipes that have been culled to highlight seasonal produce, a variety of options for the whole family, and most importantly, meals that are nutritious and affordable.
  • Check out some of our tips that will get you eating better, saving money, and moving more.

FREE Classes in Every Community

Feeding Florida’s food banks across the state work with individuals and families daily, helping them find access to resources. Included in that is offering these FREE nutrition education classes in all 67 counties. Participants learn how to make healthy meals, stretch their dollars at the grocery store, and make informed decisions about what they eat. See the classes available, through our dedicated Nutrition Education website.

Virtual Classes for Adults and Kids

Nutrition education classes designed by our registered dieticians are also available online, so you can take these FREE online classes at your own pace from anywhere. The courses for adults are designs to help SNAP eligible families make the best use of their food budget, while the classes for kids are taught at their level and encourage physical activity and healthy food choices.

Florida Nutrition Ed is an evidence-based program provided by Feeding Florida in partnership with the Florida Department of Children and Families, formed to educate SNAP-eligible Floridians about good nutrition, smart spending, and a healthy lifestyle. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
