Who We Are

Our Story

Feeding Florida is the statewide association of Florida’s food banks. Our 9 member food banks provide a healthy, adequate, and consistent food supply to every community, every day. Serving every county in the state, they move food directly into communities and respond to hunger on the front lines.

Feeding Florida exists to strengthen that work by providing coordination, advocacy, and statewide programs that expand impact and accelerate solutions. We are a small, focused team dedicated to solving hunger by supporting the systems, policies, and partnerships that allow food banks to do their work more effectively.

Who We Are: A Unified Voice

At Feeding Florida, we believe that solving hunger requires more than just providing a meal—it requires a commitment to building healthy, resilient communities. As the state’s largest hunger-relief network, we serve as a unified voice, working across all 67 Florida counties to ensure that every neighbor has access to the consistent, reliable food they need to thrive.

The Network’s strength lies in the collaboration our 9 food banks have with more than 2,400 community-based partners, including local churches, schools, health centers, and non-profits. Feeding Florida operates where collaboration and scale matter most. We lead efforts that are more effective when done together rather than individually, allowing food banks to remain focused on direct service to the 2.9 million Floridians who struggle with food insecurity.

Our Mission: Addressing the Roots of Hunger

The mission of Feeding Florida is to end hunger and address its root causes by advocating for statewide policies and programs, engaging statewide stakeholders, and mobilizing resources for its food bank members to optimize their work.

We know that hunger is a symptom of an under-resourced home. Our mission goes beyond immediate relief; we aim to work within the entire food system to foster long-term stability.

Food banks do the work of feeding people. Feeding Florida ensures that work is coordinated, supported, and strengthened at the statewide level. Our approach is centered on:

  • Building Self-Sufficiency: We focus on programs that help individuals find their footing and move toward a future where they no longer rely on food assistance.
  • Systemic Change: By integrating nutrition education and advocacy, we strive to create a food system that supports the health and wellbeing of every resident.
  • Statewide Resilience: We provide a coordinated response to hunger that is nimble enough to handle daily needs and strong enough to lead during times of crisis.

A National Network Fighting Hunger

As the state partner of Feeding America, the nation’s hunger-relief leader, the Feeding Florida network operates with a commitment to world-class excellence. Each of our food banks is also a member of Feeding America, and they meet rigorous national standards, ensuring total financial and operational integrity. Through constant site monitoring and strict adherence to federal safety laws, the national network provides a proven, high-impact system that Floridians can trust to deliver results across all 67 counties.

Feeding Florida, formerly the Florida Association of Food Banks, and its food bank members are private, non-governmental organizations with consistently high ratings from Charity Navigator.
