Press Release: Statewide Food Banks Provide Critical Relief with Impact of Hurricane Irma
Grant is part of $1.1 million Wells Fargo donation for Hurricane Irma relief efforts in Florida and the Caribbean
TALLAHASSEE, FL – Feeding Florida, a statewide network of Feeding American food banks, announced today it has received a $50,000 grant from Wells Fargo in support of Hurricane Irma relief. The grant is part of a recently announced $1.1 million Wells Fargo donation to help communities with Hurricane Irma relief efforts in Florida and the Caribbean.
“We continue to assess community needs to ensure each impacted individual receives the food and supplies they need to fully recover from the impacts of Hurricane Irma,” said Robin Safley, Executive Director of the Feeding Florida. “Our statewide network of food banks is an essential part of emergency and disaster efforts as we support many of the front-line services aimed at providing essential items during response efforts, as well as ensuring individuals receive substantial resources during the recovery efforts. We are so thankful for the support of Wells Fargo to help us continue in our important mission.”
The grant will be used to fund Feeding Florida’s statewide network of food banks in their effort to continue to provide on the ground services and supplies to help Floridians cope in the aftermath. The network continues to work closely with its state and federal partners to ensure each impacted individual receives the resources they require. The Wells Fargo $1.1 million donation to support Hurricane Irma relief includes $500,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, $500,000 to local nonprofits focused on relief efforts in the immediate future, and $100,000 to International Medical Corps as that organization engages in relief efforts in the Caribbean. The donation to Feeding Florida is part of the $500,000 donated to local nonprofits focused on Hurricane Irma relief.
